The THF announces the Players of the Week for the week ending September 18, 2022.  The Players of the Week is a weekly feature during the 2022-23 season that honors players in all divisions. Only players that are nominated by their respective teams are considered.

Age Level / Division: 10U
Team: Revolution Elite 10U Major 12
Player: Mark Morav (F) – Games: 4, Goals: 12, Assists: 2

“Mark had 12 goals and 2 assists and was instrumental in helping Revolution Elite go 4 and 0 this weekend. Mark played forward and helped out on defense when (the) team was shorthanded,” said Coach Alex Ufberg.

10U: Mark Morav (F) netted 12 goals and 2 assists over 4 games to help Revolution Elite complete a weekend sweep. “Mark had 12 goals and 2 assists and was instrumental in helping Revolution Elite go 4 and 0 this weekend. Team: Jersey Hitmen
Player: Max Cohen (F) – Games: 2, Goals: 4, Shootout Goal

“Max scored 4 goals and he added a goal in the shootout win versus the Aviators on September 18. Max has led our team in scoring through the early part of the season. He scores big goals while using his creativity and defensive responsibility to be a complete player for our team.,” said Coach Cody Inglis.

11U: With a shootout winning goal against the Aviators, Max Cohen (F) continues to lead the Hitmen in scoring. Jersey’s leading scorer added another 4 goals to his stat line this weekend in 2 games. “Max scored 4 goals and he added a goal in the shootout win versus the Aviators on September 18. Max has led our team in scoring through the early part of the season. He scores big goals while using his creativity and defensive responsibility to be a complete player for our team,” said Coach Cody Inglis.

Player: Tano Navarro (F) – Games: 2, Goals: 2, Assists: 2

“After struggling to create offense recently, we needed a big game from one of our forwards and Tano did not disappoint with a 4 point game to end the weekend,” said Coach Ross Carmichael.

12U: Pacing 2 points per game, Tano Navarro (F) capped a two game weekend with 2 goals and 2 assists for the Mercer Chiefs. “After struggling to create offense recently, we needed a big game from one of our forwards and Tano did not disappoint with a 4 point game to end the weekend,” said Coach Ross Carmichael.

Player: Michael Kandrach (F) – Games: 3, Goals: 4, Assists: 1

“Michael had a great weekend in the THF. Which was capped off with a 3 goal performance on Sunday 9/18 which included the unassisted game winner which resulted in a 4-1 PAL Victory over the Philadelphia Revolution,” said Coach Mike Kandrach.

13U: PAL JR Islanders’ Forward, Michael Kandrach dominated this week with 5 total points. In Sunday’s contest, Kandrach logged a 3 goal performance – including the GWG, which was unassisted. “Michael had a great weekend in the THF. Which was capped off with a 3 goal performance on Sunday 9/18 which included the unassisted game winner which resulted in a 4-1 PAL Victory over the Philadelphia Revolution,” said Coach Mike Kandrach.

Player:  Jack Gavaghan (F) – Games: 3, Goals: 3, Assists: 3

“Jack is our captain and helped lead our team to a 2-0-1 start.  He is a great representation of a Revolution player. Jack is a consistent competitor and a leader in our locker room,” said Coach Geoffrey Beauparlant.

14U: Jack Gavaghan (F) contributed 3 goals and 3 assists over 3 games for the Philadelphia Revolution Elite this week. “Jack is our captain and helped lead our team to a 2-0-1 start.  He is a great representation of a Revolution player. Player: Quentin O’Connor (F) – Games: 2, Goals: 3 (2 GWG), Assists: 2

“Quentin was very creative and scored each game winning goal in our two wins this weekend. He was very strong on the puck and consistently generated scoring chances in both games. ,” said Coach Mike Donnellan.

15U: Scoring 2 of the 3 GWG this weekend, Quentin O’Connor finished his weekend with 5 points over 2 games. “Quentin was very creative and scored each game winning goal in our two wins this weekend. He was very strong on the puck and consistently generated scoring chances in both games. ,” said Coach Mike Donnellan.

Player: Preston Baker  (G) – Games: 2, Goals Against: 2, Saves: 37/39 (1 Shutout)

“Preston Baker went 2-0 this weekend, with one shut out. He stopped 37 of 39 shots for a .948 save percentage,” said Coach Anthony Yelovich.

16U: Leading his team to a weekend sweep, Preston Baker (G) stopped 37 of the 39 shots he faced this weekend. The Hitmen goaltender recorded a shutout in one of Jersey’s two contests this weekend. “Preston Baker went 2-0 this weekend, with one shut out. He stopped 37 of 39 shots for a .948 save percentage,” said Coach Anthony Yelovich.

Player: Brody Simko (F) – Games: 4, Goals: 10, Assists: 4

“Simko scored 14 points (10 goals, 4 assists) in four games played … including 7 goals in a win over the Minnesota Grey Ducks,” said Coach Dave Kosick.

18U: Esmark’s Brody Simko (F) dominated through 4 games this weekend, netting double-digit goals (10) and 4 assists. The 14-point weekend by Simko was highlighted by a 7 goal performance again the Minnesota Grey Ducks. “Simko scored 14 points (10 goals, 4 assists) in four games played … including 7 goals in a win over the Minnesota Grey Ducks,” said Coach Dave Kosick.
