2022-23 THF

Gameday Protocols

All THF regular season games and Showcase games at the Squirt through Midget levels will be played under USAH rules unless noted below.

All THF games will be scored on an iPad using GameSheet. Both referees must sign the GameSheet scoresheet on the iPad and lock the game and the end of each game played. The Home team will supply the two volunteers for the iPad scoring and the score clock. The Scorekeeper will provide the Head coaches and on-ice officials with the iPad image of the scoresheet immediately after the conclusion of the game for their final approval and signature. The scoresheet will automatically upload to the THF website and standings once the iPad is connected to Wi-Fi. Please connect to Wi-Fi after each game if there is no signal in the scorebox.

  • Penalties
    • We will follow USA Hockey Directives in regard to penalty lengths based
      on period duration.

Running Clock:

If the goal differential is 5 or greater during the third period, the clock shall be set to running time. No adjustments to penalty times will be made. If a penalty expires during a play stoppage, the player may not leave the penalty box until the puck is dropped at the next faceoff.

Regular Season Overtime Format:

A regular-season showcase or non-showcase game remaining tied after the final regulation period will proceed to a shootout and penalty shot rules will apply. Each team will select three separate shooters with the visiting team shooting first and alternating with the home team until all 6 shooters have had a turn. The team with the most goals during the shootout will be declared the winner. If the score remains tied after 6 shooters the teams will continue to alternate shooters in a sudden death shootout format until one team scores and the other does not declare the scoring team the winner. Teams may use the same shooter in “sudden death overtime” multiple times. A player whose penalty has not expired before the end of an overtime or regulation period is ineligible for the shootout and sudden death shootout. Playoff Overtime Format: All league playoffs games remaining in a tie at the end of the third period will be decided by a 5- minute 3 vs. 3 sudden-death overtime. If the game remains tied at the end of the overtime, the game will proceed to a shootout and penalty shot rules will apply. The playoff shootout will be the same as the regular season format listed above.
